In that time we’ve moved office, taken on a new designer, re-decorated and done lots of excellent designing. Unfortunately, the blogging is still down to me, but that’s all going to change soon. We thought you’d like to see our fabulous feature wall designed and painted by Lindsay.

We love it when our clients are successful.

You may have heard recently, that Ofcom has announced an 80% reduction in mobile termination rates over the next four years. Well, the Terminate The Rate campaign website was designed and built by yours truly!

The Terminate the Rate campaign launched in May 2009 and has received an incredible amount of support from over 160,000 UK consumers, 65 organisations (representing the interests of tens of millions of people in the UK), 262 MPs and over 1,600 small businesses. This support has enabled the campaign to make a clear case for change. There is still a long way to go to get the rate eliminated all together, so add your name to the list!

Occasionally, you get a job that was just made for you. When I was young, I was always sketching new kits for Aston Villa – that was before I even knew what graphic design was. I also drew dinosaurs, but that’s another matter.
So, we were delighted to get the opportunity to design a new logo and club kit for Bigfoot Cycle Club.

Based around Bromley and Kent, it’s a fast growing club and getting a bit of a reputation on the race circuit.

Not many projects bring two of your great loves together, but this one did – typography and the joy of wearing lycra. Now what can be better than that?
Chapeau Bigfoot.

Ok, so right now we have no phones or Internet (thanks BT). So what better time to try out the WordPress iPhone app? So far it’s crashed twice, the preview doesn’t work and there are only basic options for inserting images which is a bit of an issue for bespoke themes, like ours.

Anyway, thought you might like to see some pics from our Christmas afternoon tea at Claridges. Nothing says Christmas like turkey sandwiches, champagne and all the Earl Grey you can drink. Happy Christmas everyone.

Update: now we’re back online, I’ve amended this post as the WordPress app just ain’t right. Now you can enjoy an image of our afternoon tea and drool all you want.

The Swiss Style, also known as The International Typographic Style is a graphic design style developed in Switzerland in the 1940s and 50s.

The Swiss style celebrates cleanliness, simplicity and readability. The style is defined by the use of asymmetric layouts, grid systems and sans-serif typefaces like Akzidenz Grotesk.

Led by designers Josef Müller-Brockmann at the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts and Armin Hofmann at the Basel School of Design, the style is also associated with the use of photography in place of illustrations or drawings and featured typography as a primary design element in addition to its use in text.

Finally, without The Swiss Style, Paolo would have nothing to use as a basis for his ‘inspiration.’

We worked very closely with the team at Three to design the blog and they work very hard to keep it up to date and relevant.

The judges described the design as ‘well thought out, different, while remaining true to blog functionality.’ They liked the ‘imaginative means of interacting with their client base utilising a number of social and viral means’.

2010 Rolling Roadshow Tour (A series of free screenings of famous movies, sponsored by Levi’s and Alamo Cinema).

All the posters are reminiscent of the one and only Saul Bass, who created some of the most famous and iconic movie posters of all time.

Bass was also responsible for memorable title sequences, for North by Northwest, Vertigo, and Psycho. It was this kind of innovative, revolutionary work that made Bass a revered graphic designer.

Using Flickr as part of you social media strategy, opens up a whole new set of possibilities. Not least, being able to embed the rather lovely flickr slideshow into your webpage.

Distributing your content has advantages too, as it widens the net (excuse the pun). Consider uploading your product images into a Flickr gallery and embedding the slideshow into your website. Suddenly, you have content relating to your business in more than one location. Images in Flickr can be tagged and also shared, which just widens your reach even further.

Embracing social media can do wonders for your google rankings too. Google indexes blogs, images, movies and a whole lot more. So, before you go and spend time and money on SEO and PPC, give a little thought to social media – its free!
